Coche Dury

Is there anything other liquid that beats a great White Burgundy?!

Once your lips have been kissed by a amazing White Burgundy you are forever hooked and looking for more. The elegance, the energy, the way the wine makes you feel are the attributes that make you want to drink White Burgundy at every chance you have.

Sitting amongst the top of the Mountain of White Burgundy producers lies Coche Dury. They are mentioned among the legends of the likes of DRC and Leflaive.

The wines have a distinct lemon oil, crushed rock, and minerality to them. They deliver power and muscle with impeccable elegance.

Jean-François Coche began working in the family vineyards alongside his father, Georges, at the age of fourteen, becoming the third generation of Coches to tend the vines. His marriage to Odile Dury in 1975 added to the family holdings, which lead to the formation of Domaine Coche-Dury. Today, his son, Raphaël, has taken the reins with his wife, Charline, and the two continue the family tradition with great reverence.

We have a rare selection of loose bottles available including 5 vintages of the legendary Corton Charlemagne including 1 bottle of the iconic 2005. Triple 98-point scores on this one – a rare feat in Burgundy. The owner of GRW has had this wine no less than 5 times and says it’s one of the top 10 white wines he’s ever had in his life, alongside ’96 Leflaive Montrachet, ’92 Ramonet Montrachet and ‘00 DRC Montrachet to name a few.

“This is spellbinding in every way and if you have a bottle in your cellar, then God must have smiled upon you”

2005 Corton Charlemagne

Warning: this incredible white Burgundy can leave you speechless. Appraised blind, everyone fortunate enough to have a glass of this Corton-Charlemagne in front of them, recognized its greatness. The bouquet is imbued with spine-tingling minerality and a shimmering tension that is impossible to encapsulate in words. It just leaves you with a huge smile on your face. The palate neatly interlocks with the aromatics, that mineral tension just leaving you breathless with admiration. This is not a case of a kaleidoscope of flavors queuing to have their say, rather a masterclass in precision, nuance, texture and bewitching harmony. This is spellbinding in every way and if you have a bottle in your cellar, then God must have smiled upon you.

2011 Corton Charlemagne

The 2011 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has an exquisite bouquet that truly deserves the phrase 'liquid mineral.' Imagine a limestone quarry being melted down and then distilled multiple times until there is just enough to fill your wine glass. The palate has perfect acidity and subtle spicy notes on the entry: hints of lime flower, citrus lemon and a subtle note of mandarin coming through with aeration. Is exhibits balletic poise on the finish -- a sensational Corton-Charlemagne that just may turn out to be just as good as the 2010. Drink 2018-2035.

2000 Coche Dury Meursault Les Perrieres

The 2000 Meursault Perrieres reveals spices, cinnamon, and vanilla in its deep, concentrated character. Medium to full-bodied, it explodes on the palate with pears, apples, butter, gravel, stones, and minerals. It is velvety-textured, lush, exhibits massive depth and an intensely pure, powerful, and deep character. This is a Perrieres that will give Coche's 1996 a run for its money. Drink it over the next 12-14 years.
