Hundred Acre

Hundred Acre may be one of the biggest wines in all of Napa. In their 20+ years since inception, Hundred Acre has received OVER TWENTY ‘100 Pts’ scores from Robert Parker for their wines. This amazing record of consistent excellence has catapulted Hundred Acre into the upper echelon of Napa Valley Red Wines.

They approach everything with a very “hands on” winemaking style. For owner Jayson Woodbridge, this means each step is equally important, from hand picking the vineyards in numerous passes, to hand sorting the fruit berry by berry, to the forest and age of wood being carefully selected and measured prior to barrels being made. Each wine represents single estate vineyards with 100% single varietal use from the Napa Valley. Hundred Acre never sells their fruit and only makes Kayli, Few & Far Between, and Ark from their own single vineyards. What does that mean? That these wines are singular, and you can only experience the power and elegance from Hundred Acre itself!

These are not wines for the faint of heart, but for those who love Napa wines at their richest and boldest. Parker once called the 2013 Few & Far Between a “Château Latour on steroids.” (Robert Parker, 100)

2012 Few & Far Between

"Woodbridge’s vineyard tucked away near the famous Eisele Vineyard, now owned by Château Latour, produces the wine known as the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Few and Far Between Vineyard. This is another luxurious, exceptionally concentrated and loaded wine with great intensity, a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, unbelievable amounts of blackberry, cassis and blueberry fruit, crushed rock minerality, and a floral note. It is easily the most backward of the five Cabernet Sauvignons I tasted from Woodbridge in 2012. The wine is super-intense, displays plenty of tannin, but is silky and well-integrated. This wine needs at least 4-5 years of cellaring, and should keep for 30-50 years, as it promises to be one of the modern-day legends from Napa."

2018 Hundred Acre Ark

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard delivers powerful scents of blackberry preserves, chocolate-covered cherries and stewed plums, giving way to red and black currant jelly, beef drippings and wild fungi. Full-bodied, tightly wound and shimmering with tension in the mouth, it has a solid frame of firm, grainy tannins supporting the reticent fruit, finishing savory and with lots of latent energy. All the signs say that this baby is holding back right now and has more to give with considerable cellaring. Tuck it away for at least 5-6 years and then enjoy it over the next 40 years+"

2016 Hundred Acre Dark Ark

"The “dark expression of Ark Vineyard" continues with the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Dark Ark. Deep garnet-black, the nose is profoundly earthy/meaty, slowly revealing beguiling notes of damp soil, truffles and crushed rocks, before giving way to a core of crème de cassis, black cherry compote and fruitcake with wafts of beef drippings and wild fungi. Full-bodied, rich and oh-so-earthy in the mouth, the palate delivers layers of black fruit preserves, beautifully offset by a lively backbone and velvety tannins, finishing epically long and layered. There is something hauntingly cerebral and yet satisfyingly visceral about this vintage—a singular experience!"
