Roumier Bonnes Mares 2009

This past week part of our team was in Tokyo hosting two Burgundy Collector dinners.

A wine that blew us away was the Roumier Bonnes Mares 2009!  We enjoyed a bottle at the tiny and incredibly hard to get into Ginza Ishizaki restaurant in Tokyo with the chef and a Burgundy client and collector.

The wine was singing from the get-go! Dazzling! Perfumy! Lavender, lush layers of cherries, floral, polished and the haunting magical complexity of Roumier. This wine has many more years to go.

The good news is that we have a rare 8 bottles available that were purchased from a long-time client. They are in superb condition, in our temperature-controlled warehouse, and ready for your cellar.

Antonio Galloni puts it well when he says:

"Roumier's 2009 Bonnes-Mares is without question one of the wines of the vintage."

Domaine Roumier offers the elite Burgundy drinkers an experience unlike any other. The Domaine was founded in 1924 by Georges Roumier, who sold most of his grapes to local merchants until he began Domaine bottling in 1945. He was succeeded by his son Jean-Marie and now his grandson Christophe is at the helm, arguably one of the most talented and knowledgeable winemakers in Burgundy. The result? Wines that are seductively fruity in their youth and yet utterly mind blowing. Combine that with the insanely small production (often less than a barrel) and you get ROUMIER.

“There’s a reason why collectors lose their minds for these bottles -- there’s really nothing in the world quite like them.”

We have the best price in the country on these Bonnes Mares. $1,200 per bottle less than the next best price!!

2009 Bonnes Mares

“Roumier’s 2009 Bonnes-Mares is without question one of the wines of the vintage. Firm yet beautifully integrated tannins provide the backdrop for the highly nuanced, expressive aromas and flavors that emerge from the glass. All the elements are in the right place in this extraordinary, moving wine. At times the Bonnes-Mares comes across as very powerful, at other times it is quite sensual. In other words, it is pure magic in the glass. Burgundy fans will flock to the Musigny because of its rarity but there is a very real possibility that the Bonnes-Mares will outshine it over time. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.”

2009 Bonnes Mares

“A sleeping giant. Dark ruby in color, showing aromas of blackberry, cèpe and green olive, with a hint of mineral. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a supercaressing mouthfeel. Turns to coffee, dark chocolate and berry. Chewy yet balanced. Very, very long in the mouth. The finish is absolutely breathtaking. Best after 2013."
