Grand Cru Quality, Premier Cru Pricing, and an unforgettable drinking experience!!

Clos Saint Jacques is arguably one of the greatest vineyards in Gevrey Chambertin and Burgundy.  Armand Rousseau produces magic out of these vines. Get ready for a magical, hedonistic and intoxicating experience.  WOTN (Wine of the Night) is the acronym most commonly used when drinking Rousseau because the wines speak for themselves. They always stand out at tastings and deliver incredible pleasure.

At the end of last year part of the GRW sales team enjoyed a bottle of Rousseau Clos St Jacques 2016. The wine was firing on all cylinders!! Ultra refined. The nose was red fruit and cherry with a touch of pepper. The body was polished, juicy and delicious. Power without weight on the palate with flavors of red berries, black cherry and spice. This was paired with aged prosciutto! The combination still sits vividly on our minds.  This was the third bottle of Rousseau Clos St Jacques (98, 15, and 16) we have had in the past year and every single bottle has been mind-blowing!!

The 2016 has a 97 from Wine Spectator and 95 from Burghound. Huge scores on Cellar Tracker in the 97 and 95 point range: https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=2726270

"Gorgeous aromas of rose, strawberry, cherry and sandalwood are enhanced by licorice, earth and spice notes on the palate in this complex, harmonious red. Silky and racy, this channels a minerally graphite element on the long aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2045." -Wine Spectator, 97

"Rousseau noted that the 2016 CSJ contains more fruit from the upper portion as the lower part was heavily affected by the frost. An elegant, pure and exuberantly spicy nose blends notes of essence of red berries with wisps of earth, lavender and a background hint of oak. The equally pure middle weight flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration along with the same intense mineral streak as the Ruchottes while delivering stunningly good depth and persistence on the beautifully well-balanced finish. As good as the Ruchottes is, and it's first-rate, there is simply another dimension present here."  -Burghound, 95
