Scarecrow isn't just your typical Napa Cabernet. Being in the heart of Rutherford, Scarecrow exhibits unique nuances that give you tar, tobacco, and graphite. This wine is fashioned from some of the oldest Cabernet vines still in existence in Napa. The 70-year-old vines, known as "the old men", give the grapes a quality which is legendary in the valley.

"If California vineyards were ever classified a la French sites, this Rutherford terroir would be judged a grand cru." - Robert Parker

 2007 Scarecrow

"The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those insanely good Napa Cabernet Sauvignons that delivers a huge amount of richness and opulence while somehow managing to stay lively, fresh, and weightless. Beautiful crème de cassis, flowery incense, spice box, chocolate, and flowers all soar from the glass, and this still ruby/purple-hued beauty is full-bodied, with a multi-dimensional, layered texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a mammoth finish. This magical 2007 certainly ranks with the finest Cabernets in the world."

2013 Scarecrow

"The prodigious 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, including fruit from some of the oldest Cabernet vines still in existence in Napa. This full-bodied classic displays notes of forest floor, earth, crème de cassis, blackberry liqueur, licorice and some pen ink. It is dense, full-bodied, prodigiously rich, massive in intensity, yet relatively light on its feet. This great ballerina of a wine has extraordinary ripeness but pulls back from the edge before going over the top. There are 1,000 cases of this classic, which should age effortlessly for 30+ years."

2016 Scarecrow

"Scarecrow is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from two acres of old vines planted in 1945 by John Daniel and dry farmed. Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon comes sashaying out of the glass with tantalizing notions of violets, lavender, Black Forest cake, mulberries, tobacco leaf and fragrant earth with a core of warm cassis, kirsch, Chinese five spice, rose hip tea and cedar chest. The palate is full-bodied and super concentrated yet possesses great energy with vibrant red and black fruits and loads of mineral accents, framed by very ripe, super fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long with the most incredible perfume. Hedonistically, undeniably and deliciously perfect."

2019 Scarecrow

" Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2019 Scarecrow hits the ground running with bold expressions of crème de cassis, wild blueberries and chocolate-covered cherries plus hints of dried herbs, tilled soil and crushed rocks with a fragrant undercurrent of Indian spices. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with layer upon layer of tightly packed mineral-sparked black fruit flavors, framed by super plush tannins and absolutely seamless freshness, finishing long, long, long. This expression of the venerable J.J. Cohn vineyard—including vines planted in 1945 by John Daniel and dry farmed—is pure magic. 2,000 cases were made."
