"This is a wine that I have had numerous times and it would be fair to say that I have experienced plenty of bottle variation. At its best, the elegant, airy and beautifully layered nose combines notes of now mostly secondary fruit that is liberally laced with spice, Asian-style tea, lilac and sandalwood hints. The supple, refined and well-detailed medium weight flavors evidence plenty of minerality on the solidly complex and persistent if slightly raspy finale. Several other bottles were similar on the nose and palate yet the finish was slightly drying and merited a rating of 89 points. Yet another bottle tried in May 2019 was so riddled with brett that most people at the table, including me, found it to be undrinkable. Add to this another bottled tasted in December 2021 that was pristine with a nose that is mostly secondary with plenty of spice nuances. The palate impression was one of density and power with good detail and minerality while the finish flirted with a slight edginess that did not fall over into dryness. For my taste, this has reached its peak and it's not clear that holding it further will necessarily render the wine more attractive." - Burghound, BH92, tasted 12/2024
