"The 2009 La Romanée Grand Cru is going from strength to strength. It has a clear dark garnet colour. The nose is exquisite, perhaps having dispensed with just some of its nascent richness since I last tasted it in 2011, armed with bewitching wild strawberry, raspberry coulis scents that crescendo. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, beautifully balanced with that tincture of dried blood extant.
